La fête nationale américaine m'importe peu, tout comme le 14 juillet ou Halloween, car ces célébrations ne sont que politiques ou commerciales. Au contraire Thanksgiving n'est pas seulement la prière des premiers colons américains remerciant Dieu de leur première récolte, c'est aussi une prière universelle d'action de grâce.
Thanksgiving est aussi une prière très actuelle car un monde ancien est derrière nous et nous sommes nous aussi des pionniers en terre inconnue. Nous ne pouvons que rendre grâce à Dieu du jour qu'il nous donne et lui confier notre avenir. Et cela peu importe nos origines et nos religions !!
J'ai donc fêté Thanksgiving en communion avec ma famille américaine, celle de ma fille devenue américaine par le mariage mais aussi par ambition dans le plus pur esprit pionnier, laissant derrière elle la vieille France de ses racines.
J'ai donc fêté Thanksgiving avec l'association France-Etats-Unis dans un de ces hard rock restaurants qui proposent leur cuisine internationale dans un jargon mi anglais mi espagnol, mi asiatique qui interdit de savoir ce que l'on a dans son assiette. Heureusement qu'à Thanksgiving il y a la dinde ; ce qui rassure tous ceux qui comme moi, n'aiment pas jouer les dindons de la farce quand ils vont au restaurant.
Je conclurai en souhaitant que l'Amérique sache retrouver l'esprit religieux et pionnier de Thanksgiving. et l'inspirer à l'Occident. L'Amérique est non seulement notre alliée mais aussi et surtout elle est notre culture, et c'est avec elle que l'Occident sombrera ou rayonnera de nouveau sur le monde.
Mais pour cela avec l'Amérique nous devrons en finir avec la culture de la négation de soi ( Cancel Culture), pour aller plus loin vers les frontières de l'avenir qui sont d'abord celles de la Connaissance. Là encore l'Amérique est en avance. Contrairement aux nôtres, ses meilleurs savants et philosophes ne sont pas embourbés dans le matérialisme du 20 è siècle.
J'en veux pour preuve les philosophes analytiques américains ou encore les scientifiques de la Gnose de Princeton. Mais ceci nous entrainerait trop loin. Pour l'heure, ici et maintenant, rendons grâce à Dieu !
To me Bastille Day, Independence Day or Halloween are no big deal compared to Thanksgiving Day. Unlike these merely political or commercial celebrations, Thanksgiving is more than the celebration of their first crop by the first american pioneers, it is a prayer.
Thanksgiving is a universal prayer for our present days and our uncertain future . An old world is behind us and we too are like pioneers in a new land where we can only give thanks to God for the blessings of the present day, and trust him for the future. No matter our origins or our religions !
I have shared Thanksgiving with my american family, or rather my daughter's american family. As a matter of fact my daughter has become american through marriage and an ambition that drove her to America with pure pioneer spirit leaving behind her the old France of her roots.
That is why I have celebrated Thanksgiving Day with the Franco American Association. The event took place in a hard rock restaurant which proposes its food in an international jargon nobody understands, so that you never know what you have got in your plate. But no problem, on Thanksgiving Day, you are sure there is turkey on the menu, so you will not be a fool for your pains.
As a conclusion I suggest America would propagate the religious and pioneer spirit of Thanksgiving. America is not only our ally, it is also our culture, and it is with America the West will go down, or inspire the world again.
But to achieve that goal with America, we must get it over with Cancel culture so that we can move forwards towards the new frontiers of the future which are above all of those of knowledge. There again America is leading. Unlike ours , its best scientists and philosophers are not stuck in the quagmire of 20 th century materialism. As a proof of it let us mention the american analytical philosophers or the scientists of the group called 'Princeton gnosis'. But this would take us too far. For the present time here and now let us give thanks to God !
